National Wheel-O-Vator Evolution NG12 Controller Upgrade & Modernization

The National Wheel-O-Vator Evolution NG12 Controller Upgrade provides a modernization path for early-generation Evolution LU/LA elevators originally equipped with the legacy NG12 control system.

As these original controller systems age, replacement components and practical repair options can become increasingly difficult to source. This upgrade replaces the obsolete NG12-based control configuration with a modern controller solution designed around the requirements of the existing elevator.

This is not a plug-and-play controller replacement.

Because National Wheel-O-Vator Evolution installations were manufactured in multiple electrical, landing, fire-service, and car operating configurations, each NG12 upgrade must be evaluated and configured for the individual elevator before it can be quoted.

Information Required Before Quoting

A quote cannot be provided from the elevator model or NG12 controller identification alone.

Please provide all of the following information:

1. Electrical Supply

Is the elevator configured for:

• Single-phase power, or
• Three-phase power?

2. Number of Stops / Landings

Provide the total number of landings served by the elevator.

3. Fire Service Configuration

Is the elevator equipped with Fire Service?

If yes, please provide:

• Main fire-recall floor
• Alternate fire-recall floor
• Whether the system is equipped/configured for Phase I or Phase II Fire Service

4. Controller Photographs

Provide clear photographs of the existing controller, including:

• Overall controller cabinet/interior
• Existing control boards and components
• Wiring/interface arrangement where visible
• A clear, readable photograph of the controller data tag

The controller data tag is particularly important for identifying the original equipment configuration.

5. Car Operating Panel (COP) Photographs

Provide clear photographs of:

• The complete car operating panel
• Buttons, switches and indicators
• The surrounding COP panel/frame
• Any identification labels or markings present

Please photograph the entire panel straight-on whenever possible.

6. COP Panel/Frame Dimensions

Provide the:

• Overall length/height
• Overall width

of the existing COP panel/frame.

Accurate dimensions are required because the existing COP panel/frame will be replaced as part of the controller upgrade.

Upgrade Scope

The modernization includes replacement of more than the machine-room controller.

As part of the NG12 controller upgrade:

• The existing controller is replaced/upgraded
• The existing car top box is replaced
• The existing car operating panel (COP) panel/frame is replaced
• The new system is configured according to the elevator's electrical supply, number of landings, fire-service requirements, and existing installation

Because the car operating equipment is affected by the conversion, accurate photographs and physical dimensions of the existing COP are required.

This controller modernization is intended for qualified elevator technicians and licensed elevator professionals familiar with National Wheel-O-Vator Evolution equipment.

Installation, wiring, adjustment, testing, inspection, and any required permitting must be performed in accordance with applicable elevator codes and local requirements.
